Coal Ridge High School finished in the top 10 percent in an Environmental Protection Agency contest to encourage reduced use of energy in buildings. The school, located east of Silt, cut its energy use by nearly 24 percent in a year’s time, eliminating about 352.5 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
