SB 1176, currently being considered by the Legislature, proposes a tax on electricity generators, and to be honest, it is directed at the nuclear industry. At face value, it targets coal, nuclear and oil, but the proposed tax on coal and oil is 0.5 mills ($0.0005) per kilowatt hour, while nuclear is $0.02 â€" 40 times higher. That amounts to an additional tax burden of $338 million a year.
