DENVER - Colorado approved roughly 5,100 oil and gas drilling permits last year, down from the record 8,027 issued in 2008 before the recession. The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission received about 540 applications for permits in December. Commission Director Dave Neslin say roughly 640 permits were approved. HECO inks contract for renewable biodiesel

(AP:HONOLULU) Hawaiian Electric Co. says it has taken an important step in its efforts to create a clean energy economy for Hawaii. HECO announced Tuesday that it has signed a two-year contract to have a mainland company supply 3 million to 7 million gallons of renewable biodiesel per year. |
