NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of some top utilities companies were mixed at the close of trading: AEP rose $.42 or 1.2 percent, to $35.61. ConEd rose $.14 or .3 percent, to $45.25. Duke Energy rose $.01 or .1 percent, to $16.84. Pepco Holdings fell $.17 or 1.0 percent, to $16.60. Southern Co fell $.07 or .2 percent, to $32.83.

14,000 Without Power in North Austin

Austin Energy says at around 3 p.m. about 14,000 customers lost power after a substation in the 8400 block of Research malfunctioned. Crews are at the substation trying to repair it and power will be out until 5 p.m.
