Progress Energy is reporting over 5,000 still without power in Carteret County as crews work to restore electricity in the region. The Outage is affecting the town of Beaufort as well as much of the Down East region of the county, and as far inland as Havelock along Highway 101. |

Israel said Thursday that its atomic expert met a leading Iranian official over in the first direct talks between the two countries in 30 years.
